At the heart of JENSEN-GROUP’s innovation lies a strong commitment to sustainability. We spoke with Carmela Crippa, Head of Corporate Sustainability, to reveal how the company combines climate action with advanced laundry automation, showing how JENSEN drives a greener future through bold goals and responsible culture.
1. Carmela, JENSEN has committed to ambitious climate goals. How are you making sure these promises turn into real progress?
Sustainability has always been part of our DNA as it is a natural extension of our work in one of the oldest circular economies: textile care. We introduced our CleanTech concept in 2008 to help laundries save water, energy, and prolong the lifetime of textiles. Since then, we have taken it further with robotics, AI, and innovations like automatic sorting of garments containing foreign objects. Underscoring our commitment, we have aligned with EU sustainability standards and joined the Science Based Targets initiative, aiming to reduce emissions significantly by 2034. We are electrifying our fleet, installing solar panels, and improving the energy-efficiency of our equipment and its impact on textiles. Working closely with our customers to optimize their operations and reduce emissions across the entire industry is a key priority and an integral part of our daily work.
2. Sustainability is often seen as a costly investment. How does JENSEN reconcile sustainability with profitability?
They are not mutually exclusive. Truly sustainable success includes financial health, and we believe that ESG excellence strengthens long-term business performance. Our solutions blend both: automation reduces labor costs, improves ROI, and creates safer workplaces. CleanTech systems help customers lower energy and water use while increasing productivity and utilities savings.
Take our fully automated soil-side systems: they reduce health-related risks, as well as damages to textiles and equipment, and require fewer hands on the dirtiest tasks. Our robust machine designs, long service life, and smart technologies make JENSEN a partner that supports both the bottom line and climate goals.
3. What does sustainability success look like at JENSEN, and how do you keep teams engaged along the way?
We define success through measurable impact and transparency. We have significantly improved our ESG reporting, equipping us with tangible metrics and clear targets that enable us to track our progress and identify the areas with the greatest potential for meaningful change.
Each JENSEN entity reports ESG data on a quarterly basis, giving them the insights to track local progress and take meaningful actions. We foster engagement through our internal social media sustainability channel, regular updates, and e-learnings. And with initiatives like “Good Deeds by JENSEN”, we support social and environmental projects locally. Sustainability is not a label for us, it is a shared responsibility and a long-term business strategy.
A big thanks to Carmela for shedding light on JENSEN’s sustainable journey.
