Experts' Corner
In this edition of Espresso Insights, we sit down with Matteo Gerosa, General Manager of JENSEN Italy, to talk about his daily role, the opportunities and challenges of the Italian laundry market, and what to expect from JENSEN at EXPOdetergo in Milan.
1. As General Manager of JENSEN Italy, what does a typical day look like for you, and what do you enjoy most about your role?
Being the General Manager of JENSEN Italy is certainly a highly stimulating role. The market requires constant proximity and support to address the daily challenges faced by our customers. In my role, I feel responsible for bringing both vision and experience to help drive growth and support informed decision-making.
What gives me the greatest satisfaction is seeing the look on a customer’s face when they discover that there is a solution to a problem or need they are facing. Being able to connect them with the right product, service or process and help their business grow is incredibly rewarding. That feeling is priceless.
Another aspect, less market-focused but equally important to me, is the growth and development of our team. This has become an increasingly central part of my career in recent years. Seeing our people develop, and seeing the company grow and continuously improve together, is a great source of satisfaction.
2. Italy is an important market for the laundry industry. What are the main challenges you see Italian laundries facing today, and how is JENSEN helping customers respond to them?
Italy is a very important market which, unfortunately, has experienced slower growth than some other European countries due to a combination of factors, including competition, market fragmentation and seasonality. However, Italy is much more than this. It is a country with a unique heritage in culture, design, luxury and food. Let’s say a landscape full of opportunities that generates significant demand and business, while also creating very specific expectations in terms of quality and performance.
JENSEN has learned to understand and respond to these requirements, allowing us to support the specific needs of this complex yet unique market and to create long-term value for our customers.
3. EXPOdetergo International is just around the corner in Milan. What are you most looking forward to at this year’s show, and what should visitors make sure not to miss at the JENSEN booth?
EXPOdetergo is a very important showcase for our industry. Above all, I see it as an opportunity to reconnect with the market, exchange ideas and share experiences. A kind of reunion with our loyal customers, while also giving us the chance to meet new ones. Against this backdrop, JENSEN will present its full range of technologies, from robotics and automation to quality solutions and other innovations designed to meet the evolving needs of our customers.
In the past, trade fairs often showcased prototypes and concepts. Today, they present accessible innovations that can be integrated into customers’ processes almost immediately: tested, proven and ready-to-use solutions. At EXPOdetergo, we are showcasing a future that is already just around the corner.
Thank you, Matteo, for taking the time to share your thoughts and experience with us.
