On January 1, 2018, the JENSEN-GROUP will acquire a participation of 30% in Inwatec ApS, a Danish company that manufactures high-end heavy-duty laundry products. This investment in laundry robotics and AI (Artificial Intelligence) confirms the Group’s vision to automate all processes in the laundry.Inwatec spans a bridge between JENSEN’s current offering in laundry solutions and Industry 4.0. Its product portfolio includes mat rollers, mat storage and material handling solutions, X-ray machines as well as sorting and distribution systems. Founded in 2009 in Odense/Denmark, Inwatec is active in more than 25 countries and employs 30 staff around the globe. The core competence of Inwatec is in the field of automation, complementing the existing JENSEN product range.

In the same way as JENSEN values operational efficiency and safety, Inwatec also focuses on these aspects by creating a safer and more efficient working environment. Inwatec has developed an X-ray machine running with AI software that selects and rejects garments carrying foreign items. Thanks to the X-ray technology, harmful objects such as pencils or tweezers can be removed and the eventuality of stab wounds or damage to the laundry equipment is nil. Complete automation systems for laundries processing mats range from the sorting area to the packaging and storage area. Also the robot, based on 3D camera technology, separating garments and small items at high speed is a great complement for JENSEN’s current offering to laundries handling garments.

The engineers of Inwatec will closely co-operate with the engineering departments within JENSEN to develop new solutions and services for heavy-duty laundries. The vision: to automate all processes in heavy-duty laundries. The JENSEN-GROUP speeds up this process by investing into robotics technology and the AI solutions created by Inwatec. Inwatec will be able to take advantage of JENSEN’s global distribution with sales and service.

“The JENSEN-GROUP continues to have its sights firmly set on smart digital solutions for heavy-duty laundries” confirms Jesper Munch Jensen, Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to shaping the future of the laundry industry together with the team at JENSEN”, says Mads Andresen, CEO Inwatec.

Next appointment: JENSEN Performance Days in Palma de Mallorca, April 23 – 29, where Inwatec will present their solutions together with the innovations from JENSEN.
