A seamless success: Comforta's new laundry at Arlanda Stad/Sweden

Our customer Comforta in Arlanda Stad, Sweden, is thrilled with their new JENSEN laundry. We completed this project in record time, meeting all specifications. It is worth taking a moment to analyze why this project was so successful and what key factors contributed its smooth execution.

We began discussions about a new laundry in 2019 and worked through various layouts across four different sites before deciding on Arlanda Stad. This extensive planning helped us get it right from the start. The laundry handles mostly pool linen, in just three or four qualities, which streamlines and simplifies production significantly. To optimize the space, we ensured there was sufficient room for all 600 floor carts on both the soiled and clean sides, which was critical to their operations.

Engineering excellence ensures a smooth linen flow
Comforta’s laundry in Koivuhaka, Finland, had already tested the two big ironer lines. The ironer lines 2 and 3 in Arlanda Stad are essentially copies, with a few improvements like a simpler design and an extended delivery conveyor, adding over 60 meters of storage in the laundry. JENSEN also incorporated design features to prevent bottlenecks in the linen flow, such as the ability to buffer at least two cakes after a press, optimal drop heights from dryers, and separate compound controls for enhanced safety. This allowed operators to address issues on one line without disrupting the other. The renowned Viking separator delivered reliable and consistent quality, and also the two Turnus separators for towels worked flawlessly from day one. This specific Turnus separator is the first designed for towels dropped from a laundry bag via a chute and three guide plates to the Butterfly towel folder, protecting operators from heavy lumps of towels falling. A sensor at the bottom of the chute automatically detects the height of the piles, and smart automation ensures precise adjustment of these piles—making it truly best in class.

Collaboration and Expertise ensures smooth project management

Teamwork is essential when managing such a large project, with both parties offering guidance and adjustments to keep everything on track. Following the "first A, then B, then C" principle outlined in the OTC (Offer to Commissioning) approach, JENSEN’s unique and standardized project management method was key to ensuring the smooth execution. The OTC team excelled at managing the installation, a critical component in the project's success. Support from all JENSEN teams was nothing short of exceptional, providing invaluable assistance throughout the entire process.

Together, cutting-edge technology and a dedicated team made this project a seamless success, setting a new standard for laundry operations at Comforta. With JENSEN’s solutions, both the machines and the people driving the project contributed to delivering outstanding results that will benefit the laundry for years to come.
