Fully automatic unloading, folding and stacking of unsorted workwear

The new Butterfly series meets all requirements of today’s garment automation. Its modular construction allows to configure each machine individually, thus covering all customer needs.

Together with the automatic Lobster hanger all tasks such as feeding, folding, sorting and stacking are executed fully automatically.

Two basic models and a whole range of options are available:

  • Maximat Healthcare for light garments in the hospital sector
  • Maximat Industrial for light and heavy garments of all types

The garment reaches the feeding section through a precise and fast hanger supply. Shoulder and collar part are almost horizontally positioned due to the curveshaped feeding movement.

During the feeding process, the identification of the garment can be read via RFID antenna and stored for the remaining process. This data may be used as sorting and delivery information.

The garment is fixed by the vacuum function. An integrated adjusting device for trouser legs will be automatically activated for the corresponding garments. A smooth start of the belts is assured through an integrated soft start unit.

The nearly horizontal feeding position allows the sleeves to hang down naturally, a perfect prerequisite for the following folding process. The fold is done continuously and through a driven conveyor system. For short sleeves this function may be supported by an additional airblast.

In order to achieve very compact fold measures («locker size») an optional crossprefold may be integrated before the lateral fold unit. The fold is done via mechanical fold knife and reversing technique.

The fold pattern will be automatically determined by the length parameters of the garment (4 per category). As an option, the fold width may be adjusted and stored individually for each category. The lateral fold is executed via mechanical knife and metal templates. Garments will be stretched additionally through the horizontal fold movement. The lateral fold section is mechanically cushioned for a perfect adjustment to the quality of the garments.

The first crossfold is executed via reversing technique and airblast. The standard Maximat Industrial will be delivered with a mechanical fold knife as well as the patented crossfold adjustment. The crossfold passage of the garments may be individually set and automatically controlled based on the data gathered during the process.

The second crossfold is executed via reversing technique and airblast. Guiding the garment in the sandwich conveyor allows not only to achieve exact folding results, but has also a fixing effect. Similarly to the first crossfold, the gathered garment data will be used for setting the mechanical passage of the garment and the intensity of the airblast.

The stacking unit is a modular construction, allowing many extension possibilities for sorting. Adding serial stacking modules allows to have a most simple and space-saving solution. The optional lift stacker with horizontal transfer technique allocates the folded garment without dropping movement to the corresponding stacker, thus maintaining a perfect fold. The garment stacks can either be stored per stacking conveyor or transported via collecting conveyor to a central delivery station.

Lobster - automated system hanger

The automated versatile Lobster system hangers are especially developed by JENSEN to allow fully automated folding of garments and uniforms at the end of the sorting process. This kind of hanger represents a unique feeding solution for garments with narrow collar such as T-Shirts. Highest finishing quality can be reached due to the special design in the shoulder area of the hanger. The automated Lobster system hangers are suitable for loading all kind of garments, such as jackets, trousers, overalls, patient gowns and even bib and brace. The automated Lobster hangers are equipped with various addressing possibilities – from a manually  operated addressing flag to a fully automatic chip solution.
